A Charming and Colorful Memoir
- Don G.
Americanata, by Becky Fahrig and Mike Landrum, is a delightful recollection of two sisters—Becky twenty and Blossom twenty-two—during their yearlong visit in 1938 with their older married sister in Milan. Inexperienced but eager, Becky and Blossom travel by train from their home in Joplin, Missouri, to New York, then by steamer to Italy by way of Africa, Gibraltar and Algiers. I recommend this heartfelt memoir that reads like the diary of a romantic young woman who finds joy and fun in the people, places and adventures she experiences in her year abroad.
